Elementary Curriculum (Kindergarten - 5th Grade)

At Saint David Catholic School, our elementary program provides a deeply Catholic, academically rigorous education that forms the whole child—intellectually, spiritually, humanly, and pastorally. Grounded in the mission of the Church and guided by Gospel values, students learn to see the world through a Catholic lens as they grow in wisdom, virtue, and understanding. Daily prayer, sacramental life, and intentional character formation cultivate a strong moral foundation while nurturing each child’s personal relationship with Christ.

A strong STREAM foundation (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, and Math) further enriches the curriculum by helping students recognize the harmony between faith and reason. Through hands-on learning, creativity, and problem-solving, students develop the skills needed to think critically, collaborate effectively, and engage meaningfully with God’s world—preparing them to become capable, confident 21st-century learners.

Students benefit from a comprehensive academic program that incorporates a variety of high-quality, research-based curricula. Our literacy-first approach includes HMH (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) Reading, Grammar, and Writing as well as the Heggerty Phonics Program, supporting strong foundational skills and a lifelong love of reading.

Mathematics instruction uses the Carnegie Math Series, which provides a hands-on, conceptual approach that encourages students to reason, explore, and develop mastery through active engagement. Science instruction integrates HMH Science with inquiry-driven, experiential learning that invites students to marvel at creation and appreciate the order and beauty of God’s design.

In addition to the core academic subjects—religion, math, reading, language arts, social studies, and science—elementary students participate in enriching co-curricular classes including Spanish, library/media, technology, physical education, art, and music. These experiences foster creativity, cultural awareness, and personal growth, helping students discover and develop the unique gifts God has given them.

Through this intentional blend of Catholic identity, STREAM innovation, research-based instruction, and co-curricular enrichment, Saint David Catholic School forms learners who are curious, compassionate, and grounded in virtue. Our students leave the elementary program well-prepared for the greater challenges of middle school and are inspired to live out their faith with confidence and joy.
