Middle School

Middle School Curriculum (6th Grade - 8th Grade)
Middle school is a transformative and deeply formative stage in a young person’s life. At Saint David Catholic School, we provide a faith-filled, supportive, and academically challenging environment where students grow in the four pillars of Catholic education—intellectual, human, spiritual, and pastoral formation. During these pivotal years, students are encouraged not only to explore their strengths and embrace new challenges but also to understand, articulate, and joyfully defend their Catholic faith. Daily prayer, regular participation in Mass, opportunities for Reconciliation, service experiences, and intentional virtue formation help students deepen their relationship with Christ and form habits of moral leadership.
A significant milestone in their spiritual development is reached in seventh grade, when students prepare for and receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Through systematic catechesis, retreats, service projects, and parish partnership, students grow in their understanding of the Holy Spirit’s gifts and their call to live as mature disciples within the Church. This sacramental journey is an essential part of their middle school formation and strengthens their identity as young Catholics.
Our middle school program builds upon a strong STREAM foundation, empowering students to recognize the harmony between faith and reason. Through hands-on learning, collaborative inquiry, and real-world problem-solving, students apply their skills across disciplines while learning to think critically and responsibly about the world God created.
Academically, middle school students engage in a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare them for high school success. Literacy and writing skills are strengthened through the HMH program, while mathematical reasoning and problem-solving are developed using the Carnegie Math Series. Students study social studies, religion, and science through trusted programs such as McGraw Hill, Sadlier, and Pearson, ensuring a rigorous, balanced, and faith-informed academic experience.
Beyond the core subjects, students have access to a wide variety of co-curricular and enrichment opportunities that encourage personal growth, creativity, and leadership. Offerings include Spanish, physical education, music, performing arts, theatre, choir, and robotics clubs. Students refine essential skills such as public speaking, collaboration, and digital literacy through project-based learning and classroom presentations. Leadership pathways—including Student Council and the National Junior Honor Society—help students develop responsibility, service-oriented leadership, and confidence.
Additional quarterly enrichment experiences broaden students’ horizons and allow them to explore new interests, discover their God-given gifts, and strengthen interpersonal skills that will serve them throughout life. These opportunities reinforce the Catholic understanding that every student is uniquely created for a purpose and called to use their talents in the service of others.
At Saint David Catholic School, we are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and spiritually grounded learning environment that prepares students for the strongest high school opportunities and long-term success. Through academic excellence, STREAM-focused innovation, and faithful support of adolescent social-emotional needs, we ensure our middle school students grow into confident, compassionate young disciples ready to thrive in an ever-changing world.
