Pre-Kindergarten Curriculum (Pre-K 3 & 4)

Saint David Catholic School’s preschool program joyfully welcomes children ages 3 and 4 into a warm, nurturing environment where Catholic faith is the heart of all learning. Rooted in the belief that each child is created in the image and likeness of God, our program supports the intellectual, human, spiritual, and pastoral development of every young learner. Daily prayer, simple catechesis, and lived experiences of kindness and virtue help our youngest students begin forming a relationship with Christ while understanding their place in God’s family.

Our program uses the Creative Curriculum, a research-based, hands-on approach that encourages learning through play, exploration, and discovery. Within this child-centered framework, teachers intentionally integrate Catholic values—such as gratitude, wonder, compassion, and respect—into everyday experiences. The curriculum nurtures language, social, emotional, spiritual, and cognitive growth, laying a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning and faith.

To meet the unique needs of every child, we utilize Teaching Strategies GOLD, an ongoing observational assessment tool that helps teachers track progress and personalize instruction throughout the year. This ensures that each child is supported in developing the gifts God has given them.

In addition to early instruction in religion, math, reading, social studies, and science, our preschoolers enjoy enriching co-curricular experiences in art, music, library, Spanish, and physical education. These classes promote creativity, self-expression, joyful movement, and cultural awareness—all while reinforcing a sense of wonder for the world God created.

Our Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 programs focus on forming the whole child—spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally—preparing them for a smooth transition into elementary school. Above all, we strive to cultivate a love for God and a love for learning that begins in these formative early years and continues throughout their time at Saint David Catholic School.
