Summer Reading Grade 2
“Books aren’t just made of words. They are filled with places to visit and people to meet” - Anonymous.
Reading is one of the most important and fulfilling means to master the tool of language. Reading at an early age not only helps children learn new vocabulary and ways to express themselves; but also teaches new concepts, allows them to better understand emotions, and enhances their imagination. Reading time is a beautiful ritual that allows parents and children to connect and unwind.
As your child moves into second grade, we have selected the following list of books that will hopefully inspire your child to explore, engage in conversations and ask questions. We suggest reading with your child a minimum of 15 - 20 minutes a day.
Students must pick one book from the list below to complete their summer projects. The student choice board below will allow your child to pick one of the following items from the breakfast choices and one of the following items from the lunch choices. Both activities will need to be completed and brought to school on the first day back from Summer vacation. You may use any form of materials, recycled goods, paper products, modeling materials, etc. within the projects. Get as creative as possible!
We have included parent resources and conversation starters to help further stimulate their brains and help them learn and grow. We hope you enjoy our book list for our 2022 “Summer Of Wonder” Summer reading.
